undreds of visitors were upset with the closure of Bogor Botanical Garden in West Java on Friday due to the visit of former US President Barack Obama to the Bogor State Palace, which is located inside the garden.
A visitor from Bekasi municipality in West Java, Rahmi, told The Jakarta Post that she was disappointed with the closure.
“The park should not be closed completely. They should only put extra security on the path that will be passed by Obama so we can still see him directly.”
The management of the botanical garden displayed a sign on the main gate, saying that the Bogor Botanical Garden was temporarily closed on Friday and will reopen tomorrow on Saturday.
The garden’s supervisory and service officer Uput Afrizal apologized for the sudden closure. He said the management had just received the order for the closure this morning from the Presidential Security Detail.
Bogor Police’s traffic division head Adj. Comr. Bramastio Pandji said there was no traffic diversions during the arrival and departure of Obama’s entourage to the botanical garden, as they had conducted traffic control to safeguard the convoy. (kuk/ika)
