“Most are students of junior and senior high schools in Bogor,” West Java Police officer Adj. Sr. Comr. Budi Satrio said as quoted by tempo.co on Thursday.
The case was uncovered during an investigation into a case of counterfeit excise tax forms in Bogor and its surrounding areas, he said.
Two of the young women, identified as TR, 19, and RM, 20, allegedly acted as pimps.
One of the teenager told police that she could earn between Rp 2 million (US$ 149.48) and Rp 3 million for a single date, which could include traveling or spending the night with a customer.
“Part of the money, about Rp 1 million, is usually given to the pimps,” Budi said, adding that officers had also seized condoms and Rp 4.5 million in cash during their arrest.
He further said that underage prostitution usually involved a bigger syndicate. The police are still questioning the teenagers and collecting further evidence in the case. (agn/wit)
