o avoid gridlock affecting homeward-bound traffic on Idul Adha (Sacrifice Day), trucks will be forbidden to use the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on Friday, toll road operator Jasa Marga has said.
“Based on a letter issued by the Transportation Ministry, trucks are prohibited,” Jasa Marga Jakarta-Cikampek traffic management deputy general manager Cece Kosasih said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said the ban would run not only from Thursday midnight to Friday at 12 p.m. but also on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., adding that he was confident the move would help ease traffic congestion at the capital’s main land gateway.
Acting land transportation director general Hindro Surahmat said trucks carrying daily needs and fuel would be exempt from the ban. (fac)
