The government is preparing a draft regulation to form a core tax system that will create better tax administration.

The increasing number of taxpayers, especially after the tax amnesty and the implementation of the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) set for 2018, requires an upgrade to information technology systems to enable better services and data management, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said.

"We talked about the importance of building a core tax system, which is an upgraded tax database and information system," she said after attending a coordination meeting on the matter at the Office of the Coordinating Economic Minister on Monday.

"We have discussed it at a Cabinet meeting so the initiative has been delivered to the President and related ministers," Sri Mulyani said. (bbn)
