T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has completed its internal ethics investigation into Brig. Gen. Aris Budiman, a high-ranking police officer seconded to KPK as its investigation director.

The KPK internal affairs team submitted its findings on Monday to the  antigraft body's commissioners.

"KPK leaders are still studying the results of the internal investigation and will weigh the steps to be taken," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said on Wednesday, promising to release details to the public soon.

The KPK's internal affairs team was investigating Aris for attending a controversial hearing on Aug. 29 with the House of Representatives' Special Inquiry Committee without the consent of KPK leaders.

Many believe the House inquiry committee was designed to diminish the KPK's authority in investigating corruptors, as it was established while the KPK was investigating the high-profile case on electronic identity (e-ID) card procurement that implicating dozens of politicians, including the House Speaker and other House members.
