“The [eviction] should be completed by the end of October. But, because of many returnees, it cannot be completed as scheduled,” said Bogor regency’s public order agency (Satpol PP) official Suprayudi on Tuesday, as quoted by tempo.co.
Those who were evicted were considered illegal street vendors. The Central Government plans to expand the road to reduce severe traffic congestion in the area. The regency administration evicted the street vendors between the Gadog area and Cianjur regency’s border monument.
Suprayudi said besides street vendors, one of the targets was the legendary Rindu Alam restaurant which was located at the tea plantation. The restaurant will be turned into a green space.
So far, the eviction went well because the street vendors were cooperative, Suprayudi said. The government has prepared a location for them near the Taman Safari Indonesia conservation park. (wnd)
