View all search resultsotorcyclists reportedly attacked a mikrolet (public transportation minivan) serving the Tanjung Priok-Kampung Bandan route in North Jakarta after a hit-and-run on Wednesday.
The mikrolet driver, identified as Arman Sirait, 28, was driving on Jl. Pelabuhan Ratu in Pademangan at 11 a.m., when he accidentally hit a motorcyclist turning in front of the Aston Marina Hotel, kompas.com reported.
The motorcyclist, Alfredo Yosias, 25, who was driving from the opposite direction, fell off of his motorcycle after being struck. Arman reportedly panicked and fled the scene, leaving Alfredo behind.
Other motorcyclists who witnessed the accident chased Arman and eventually restrained him in front of the Tanjung Priok bus terminal.
North Jakarta Police traffic unit chief Adj. Comr. Sigit Purwanto said motorcyclists attacked mikrolet many times. "Fortunately, Arman was saved by police officers before any vigilante justice took place. We have [also] taken the van," Sigit said. (yon)
