View all search resultstate-owned lender PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) has appointed an economics professor from the University of Indonesia, Ari Kuncoro, as its president commissioner.
Ari replaces Hartadi Sarwono, who was appointed as president commissioner of another state-owned lender, PT Bank Mandiri.
The appointment of Ari was approved at a shareholders' meeting.
"Professor Ari Kuncoro is the dean of UI's Faculty of Economics and Business. His background as an economics professor will help him in his new position," he said after the meeting in Jakarta.
He stressed that Ari’s appointment would not affect the lender's business direction as it would stick to its business plan that had been approved by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), last year.
"The commissioner's job is to supervise; the business plan and operations are handled by the management," he added. (bbn)
