special team which will be in charge of monitoring activities in nightclubs across the city is set to be established by city administration following the closure of Alexis Hotel in North Jakarta for allegedly facilitating prostitution.
The team will consist of some stakeholders, said Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency head Tinia Budiati.
“The integrated team will investigate nightclubs that allegedly facilitate indecency, prostitution or violation of regulations regarding operational hours or their business license,” Tinia said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
The team would also monitor hotels and massage parlors, she said, without saying when the team would officially be formed.
Tinia added that the team would encourage residents to give information about violations committed by entertainment venues.
The team would regularly submit reports of their investigation to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, she said. (cal)
