nsurance company PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia plans to file a lawsuit against lawyer Alvin Lim, who represented two of the company’s clients, for allegedly making discredited statements to the media.
Alvin represented Ifranius Algadri and Indah Goena Nanda, two Allianz Life clients who previously reported the company to the police for allegedly refusing to pay their claims.
The company also reported some of its clients to the Jakarta Police on Oct. 17 for allegedly submitting false claims.
"The case is currently being investigated for the protection of Allianz Life's rights and image," the insurance company stated in a press release received by The Jakarta Post on Tuesday. The legal process was initiated to protect the interests of its investors, clients and other parties, it added.
Adrian DW, head of corporate communications for the company, said the parties that had been reported to the police were not Ifranius and Indah.
However, he refused to reveal the identities of the reported clients.
The Jakarta Police earlier named two former executives of the company, Joachim Wessling and Yuliana Firmansyah, suspects for allegedly violating the consumer protection law.
Jakarta Police Spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said on Tuesday afternoon that Ifranius and Indah had dropped their reports against Allianz.
Argo said the police would question them regarding the reasons for their decision.
The police had yet to decide whether they would release information regarding the accusations involving Joachim and Yuliana, Argo said.
