The high amount had been deliberately proposed for the 2018 city budget for the sake of maintaining the city's assets, Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said.
"We have included it in our 2018 city budget to protect and maintain the city's assets, so [the fountain] can serve again to make the council building attractive," Sandiaga said on Monday night, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
According to apbd.jakarta.go.id, Rp 11 million of the proposed funds are to be spent on purchasing seeds, while the remainder is for andesite stones, dismantling work and more.
Last year, the administration had proposed a budget allocation of Rp 579 million for maintenance work on the fountain. However, the Home Ministry rejected the proposal and eliminated the item from the budget plan. (yon)
