A black Mercedes-Benz car burst into flames on Jl. Prapanca in South Jakarta on Monday afternoon.

The identity of the car's owner remains unknown and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Supriyanto, a security guard at the South Jakarta mayor’s office said the incident took place at around 4:45 p.m.

"The driver immediately escaped," he said at the location as quoted by kompas.com.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze, but the incident disrupted traffic around the area. (fac)
