ire razed a house in the early hours of Friday in East Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara, claiming four lives and injuring two.

The fire killed four out of six residents in the house located in Kampung Bealaing, Bangka Pau village in Poco Ranaka subdistrict. Homeowner Melkior Namat, 60, his wife Yovita Di, 50; and household members Icek, 30, and Leonel, 18, perished in the fire that engulfed the house as they slept.

Two other members of the household survived the fire with injuries. No other details were made immediately available as to their identities.

Neighbors reported the fire at 3 a.m. on Friday and as local security personnel arrived, the house burned down and four people were found dead inside, Poco Ranaka district head Yosep Seber said.

“All victims have been taken to Ben Mboi Regional Hospital in Ruteng. The two survivors are also being treated at the hospital,” Yosep said on Friday.

Manggarai Police spokesman Second. Insp. Daniel Djihu said the police had begun investigating into the cause of the fire.
