View all search resultsn a bid to assist firefighters in carrying out their duties, the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency have installed Global Positioning Systems (GPS) on its 56 trucks.
"The installation aims to help officers when heading to fire locations," Agency head Irwan said on Monday as quoted by beritajakarta.id.
The GPS is expected to help firefighters find the easiest and quickest routes to a fire location as well as to let them know the locations of other firefighters on duty to allow for better coordination during emergencies, Irwan said.
He added that the GPS had been installed on six types of trucks, namely rescue standard, water pump, light rescue, heavy duty rescue, quick response and firefighting vehicles.
He said the agency would conduct training for personnel to familiarize them with the newly installed technology. (fac)
