Mulia Resort & Villas in Nusa Dua, Bali, has just welcomed the New Year by presenting a concert featuring female British singer Charli XCX, the stage name of Charlotte Emma Aitchinson, who set the crowd on fire with her renditions of uplifting and upbeat pop numbers.
The singer entertained guests during a New Year countdown party on Dec. 31, 2017, right through into the early hours of Jan. 1, 2018, marking the arrival of the New Year.
Among her fellow pop stars, Charli XCX is one of a kind. Starting her career in 2011, she reached her first career milestone when she co-wrote and contributed vocals to the 2012 single “I Love It,” which was performed by Swedish pop duo Icona Pop and became a radio hit for both singers in 2013, earning considerable airtime.
Her music video for “Famous,” a single from her 2014 album Sucker, is perhaps her most memorable performance, in which she portrays the bad habits of millennials being completely absorbed in their digital gadgets.
In mid-2017, she released her newest single “Boys,” featuring other musicians such as Joe Jonas and Brendon Urie from Panic! at the Disco. Besides earning airplays, the single’s music video has also become popular online: the video ranks second on YouTube’s Top 25 most popular videos list with almost two million views on July 27, 2017, less than 24 hours after the music video was officially launched.
During the concert, the crowd was wildly enthusiastic and cheerful and the singer performed some of her greatest hits mentioned above.
Prior to performing her concert, the singer had dinner with other guests in the resort’s Table8 restaurant, enjoying the restaurant’s Mediterranean and Pan-Asian menu, which includes Cantonese and Szechuan food. She also took time to explore international cuisine at the hotel’s The Café as well as a special Japanese culinary presentation at Edogin.
After the concert was over and everybody cheered as they entered 2018, the singer joined guests in a thunderous celebration in the hotel’s ZJ’s Bar and Lounge well into the wee hours of the new year, which was enlivened by a number of well-known DJs in Bali.
