T Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta is set to hold the groundbreaking of Dukuh Atas Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in Central Jakarta on Jan. 30.

MRT Jakarta director William Sabandar said the company had taken measures to develop the TOD, for instance, by developing a transit plaza at the former Blora market land.

William added the company would develop a good quality sidewalk in the ex-market area on Jl. Kendal and Jl. Tanjung Karang in hopes of facilitating future MRT passengers who wanted to switch to a different mode of transportation.

A park would also be provided in the TOD area, he said.

"We will have the Dukuh Atas park, which will be located within the MRT station area," William said as quoted by tempo.co

He went on to say that the company, together with city-owned market operator PD Pasar Jaya, would develop a 20-story building on the 3,000-square-meter land of the ex-market area.

The building will be used for the MRT office, Smart City command center and city planning gallery.

A skywalk that connects the building with the MRT station will also be developed, he said. (cal)
