Cadillac driver who allegedly dragged a police officer along a Transjakarta busway lane has tested positive for drugs, East Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Yoyon Tony Surya Putra has said.

A urine test indicates the suspect, Tessa Granitsa Satari, 34, consumed ecstasy and crystal methamphetamine on Jan. 18, the day of the incident.

Tessa was stopped by Second Brig. Dimas Priyanggoro as he was passing a busway lane using his car in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta. Dimas then asked Tessa to show his driver's license and registration documents.

Instead of showing them, Tessa allegedly grabbed the police officer's right hand and drove off, which caused Dimas to get dragged 10 meters along the lane. Dimas broke his left arm in the incident.

“He purposely harmed the police officer who was on duty,” Yoyon said as quoted by kompas.com

Tessa is being charged under Article 213 of the Criminal Code on violence against an official and faces a sentence of eight years’ imprisonment.

The police will further investigate the case to determine whether Tessa’s alleged actions could also be considered physical abuse.

The suspect is currently being detained at the East Jakarta Police office. (wnd)
