Former minister to testify at Setya's e-ID hearing

The Jakarta Corruption Court is set to hear testimony from former home minister Gamawan Fauzi as a witness in the case against defendant Setya Novanto who stands trial for alleged graft related to the e-ID procurement project.

he Jakarta Corruption Court is set to hear testimony from former home minister Gamawan Fauzi as a witness in the case against defendant Setya Novanto who stands trial for alleged graft related to the e-ID procurement project.
 
In addition to Gamawan, former Home Ministry secretary general Diah Anggraini and Drajat Wisnu Setiawan, a ministry official who became the head of the e-ID project tender committee, will also testify during Monday's hearing.
 
In the indictment against Setya, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors mentioned that the alleged graft had benefited Gamawan who reportedly received Rp 50 million (US$3,755) and a shop house in Jakarta through the latter's brother, Asmin Aulia.
 
Diah and Drajat have also been implicated in the case as they were said to have received $500,000 and $40,000, respectively.

Setya has been indicted on suspicions of having played a major role in the e-ID graft case, which caused Rp 2.3 trillion in state losses. (ebf)
