he Tangerang administration in Banten is set to kick off the construction of a transit-oriented development (TOD) in March to replace Poris Plawad Terminal in Cipondoh district, said Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah.
Arief explained that the central government would also contribute to the project, built atop 5 hectares of land.
“Two ha of the total area will be developed by the central administration, with a capital injection of Rp 1.5 trillion [US$105 million],” Arief said on Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com. The remaining 3-ha area will be developed by the Tangerang administration using the city’s budget.
At least seven different modes of transportation will be operated in the TOD. Among the modes of transportation are commuter trains, airport trains, Transjakarta buses and the upcoming light rail transit (LRT). (vny)
