View all search resultshe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested 14 people, including councillors, officials and businesspeople, in Central Lampung on Wednesday, a KPK spokesperson revealed today.
KPK spokesperson Febridiansyah confirmed on Thursday that the arrests took place in Jakarta and Central Lampung.
“We found a stack of cash in a cardboard box during an arrest in Central Lampung. [We] allege that the money was provided to influence the local council’s decision regarding local loans,” he said in Jakarta.
Febri added that there were no local leaders among the 14 who were arrested on Wednesday.
According to kompas.com, the cash confiscated during the arrests amounted Rp 1 billion (US$70,000). (swd)
