est Jakarta Police arrested an angkot (public minivan) driver near Rawa Buaya railroad on suspicions of drunk driving and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Insp. Ruben George said on Wednesday that the suspect, identified as Taufik, was found by the police’s street crime taskforce while on patrol in the area.

“Officers smelled alcohol from the driver’s mouth, and therefore searched him and the vehicle,” said Ruben on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.

Police confiscated a Rajawali alcoholic drink in a 600 ml mineral water bottle as well as a 20 cm knife from the suspect, who only carried his ID card and driver’s license with him.

The suspect failed to show registration papers for the vehicle and is currently being detained at the Cengkareng Police office for further questioning. (jlm)
