P

olice investigators have questioned witnesses and analyzed CCTV footage of two brawl incidents that occurred in Kemang, South Jakarta, within a span of 24 hours.

“We’re questioning two more witnesses, adding to the eight we summoned yesterday. Ten of them are local residents and passersby who happened to be at the location of the brawl,” South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Mardiaz Kusin Dwihananto told kompas.com on Wednesday.

It was reported that on Sunday at 4 a.m., a police officer identified as Yasri Abdulmas, 24, was found lying on a sidewalk with several stab wounds all over his body in front of a café on Jl. Kemang Raya.

Less than 24 hours later, another incident occurred on the same street. A video recording taken from the second floor of Kafe Dronk appears to show several motorcyclists stopping their vehicles before punching locals at around Monday at 1 a.m. Four people were injured and several vehicles were damaged in the incident.

Mardiaz said the police had taken footage from 10 CCTV cameras at the crime scenes.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said the police had yet to determine whether the incidents were connected. (vla)
