View all search resultsThe Bekasi Police have arrested two men with self-inflicted gunshot wounds as suspects in an aggravated robbery case.
The police said the two were known to specialize in stealing motorcycles in several areas in the city, including Rawa Lumbu, Narogong and Bantar Gebang. Their leader, identified as Mul, alias Kebo, was shot dead on Monday while resisting arrest, said Bekasi Police general crimes chief Dedy Supriadi, kompas.com reported.
Dedy said the suspects told police that they accidentally shot themselves in their legs a month earlier.
“They were committing the crimes while wounded. The gun belonged to their leader. While handling the gun, they accidentally dropped it and the gun went off, with the bullet going through both suspects’ legs,” said Dedy on Tuesday. He noted that the pair would not have been able to obtain medical treatment without arousing suspicion.
One of the suspects also said he treated his wounds by taking high doses of antibiotics and drinking alcohol. The two suspects will be treated for their wounds during their detention at Bekasi Police headquarters. (jlm)
