T

he Jakarta administration has appointed deputy chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Sarman Simanjorang as president commissioner of PT Delta Djakarta, replacing Jakarta Financial Management Board head Michael Rolandi.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said the appointment had been recommended by the region-owned enterprises’ governing board selection committee.

Sandiaga, who served as vice president of small and medium enterprises at Kadin from 2009 to 2010, acknowledged his friendship with Sarman.

“I wasn’t involved with the appointment,” Sandiaga said as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.

The appointment was made amid the administration’s plan to release its stake in the beer firm, which produces various beers, such as Anker, Carlsberg and San Miguel.

Delta’s marketing director, Ronny Titiheruw, said Michael had been replaced because he was also a commissioner at city-owned Bank DKI.

“According to Delta’s corporate regulations, the commissioner cannot hold a position in another company,” Ronny had said.

Delta says it will distribute Rp 208 billion (US$14.9 million) in dividends. The company contributes Rp 40 billion to the city’s income.

Jakarta, which has owned a stake in the company since 1970, currently holds 26.52 percent shares, with 2.91 percent of the shares owned by the Equity Investment and Management Board (BP-IPM Jaya).

During the campaign period, Anies and Sandiaga promised to release the stake, saying the company had not contributed to the livelihood of many people.

Anies said even though Delta had contributed profit to the city’s revenue, the amount was insignificant compared to other income. (cal)
