tate-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operation Region 1 made Jatinegara station in East Jakarta an emergency point of departure for 23 trains on Tuesday to anticipate traffic congestion near Gambir station due to the May Day rally.

KAI Operation Area 1 spokesperson Edy Kuswoyo said 23 trains departing from Gambir Station in Central Jakarta would take passengers at Jatinegara Station from 7 a.m. to 7.15 p.m. on Tuesday .

“Passengers facing difficulties getting to Gambir due to the rally can board at Jatinegara station,” Edy said as quoted by tribunnews.com

The 23 trains are KA 14 (Argo Muria), KA 7058 (Argo Parahyangan Premium), KA 10 (Argo Deipangga), KA 52 (Taksaka), KA 22 (Argo Parahyangan), KA 16 (Argo Jati), KA 2 (Argo Bromo Anggrek), KA 62 (Tegal Bahari), KA 10 F (Argo Dwipangga Fakultatif), KA 24 (Argo Parahyangan), KA 64 (Tegal Bahari), KA 68 (Cirebon Express), KA 34 (Argo Parahyangan), KA 56 (Bangunkarta), KA 26 (Argo Parahyangan), KA 12 (Argo Sindoro), KA 44 (Bima), KA 11234 (KLB Argo Parahyangan Tambahan), KA 18 (Argo Jati), KA 42 (Gajayana), KA 7060 (Argo Parahyangan Premium), KA 28 (Argo Parahyangan), KA 48 (Sembrani). 

The trains would still depart from Gambir station on time, however. Therefore, he called on passengers wanting to board at the station to arrive on time.

The May Day rally, joined by at least 30,000 workers, was focused, among other places, in front of the Presidential Palace and City Hall in Central Jakarta, close to Gambir station. (vny)
