inance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati says her side is preparing revisions to a law on income and value-added (PPh and PPN) tax as part of the country’s taxation reform.
“The revision is being prepared together with the Taxation Directorate General. We need to discuss a number of points in terms of the content,” said Sri Mulyani in Jakarta on Monday as reported by kontan.co.id.
The draft is ready, however it needs to be adjusted to the changing situation, she said. “I think we need to discuss the costs and benefits,” he said.
Taxation Director General Robert Pakpahan said the revision still needed to pass a number of stages before the draft became a final bill that would be deliberated at the House of Representatives.
Last year, the government considered decreasing income tax rates for corporations that would be accommodated in the law revision. The government also mulled over giving value-added tax exemptions to a number of goods as part of an effort to improve the competitiveness of certain products in the global market.
Sri Mulyani and Robert refused to comment on specific revisions. (bbn)
