he Bekasi branch of state-owned electricity company PLN is preparing the administrative requirements to buy electricity from the waste-to-energy plant (Wte) at Sumur Batu trash disposal site (TPA) in Bantar Gebang.
“I’ve been here twice to ensure the plant’s readiness to operate,” Bekasi PLN head Reny Wahyu Setiawan said as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com on Wednesday.
“I’m preparing the documents so we can immediately install distributor lines around the Sumur Batu TPA,” he added.
The plant was constructed by PT Nusa Wijaya Abadi.
According to the Presidential Decree No. 35/2018 on the acceleration of the construction of environmentally friendly waste-processing electrical-energy installations, the PLN should buy the WtE plant’s electricity for 13 US cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for 20 megawatt (MW) capacity.
“The trade agreement will be signed by the main PLN office. Bekasi PLN will deal with the operator,” Reny added. (vla)
