ore than a dozen unidentified men allegedly assaulted a driver and a conductor of intercity premium bus Royaltrans in Bekasi, West Java, on Thursday night, according to city bus operator PT Transjakarta.
“At least 15 people suspected to be Mayasari Bakti employees assaulted our driver and conductor at Bulak Kapal bus stop in East Bekasi,” a Transjakarta spokesman Wibowo said on Friday as reported by kompas.com.
Mayasari Bakti is an intercity bus company operating in the Greater Jakarta area.
Wibowo said the driver, Agus Priyo Raharjo, suffered bruises to his cheeks, meanwhile the bus conductor, Aulia Anhar, was unscathed. The right rearview mirror of the bus was also damaged in the assault, he added.
He said the men were suspected of being under the influence while assaulting the bus driver and conductor.
Wibowo said the driver was heading to Bekasi Bus Terminal after dropping passengers off at Superindo Bulak Kapal bus stop.
He said when the bus arrived at Cut Moetia Park, two Mayasari buses converged toward the Royaltrans bus and the Mayasari employees on board allegedly knocked the door of the Royaltrans bus.
He said the driver ignored the Mayasari buses and continued to drive the bus to Bulak Kapal bus stop.
“When the driver reached the bus stop, the Mayasari employees started to assault our driver and damage the Royaltrans bus,” he said.
He said that a man ended the fight. (ami)
