View all search resultshe Tanah Abang Police in Central Jakarta have arrested three men — Nurtaman, Erwan and Mamat — who allegedly extorted drivers of vehicles passing the Thamrin City shopping center area on Jl. Kebon Kacang, Tanah Abang.
Tanah Abang Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Lukman Cahyo said the three men had forcefully asked each of the drivers to give them Rp 10,000 (72 US cents) as “security money”.

According to a victim’s report, Mamat refused Rp 500 that the victim had offered. Mamat instead demanded Rp 10,000, and gave him a small paper that read “contribution for Melati reservoir’s security and cleanliness” in return.
“The perpetrators claimed to be local residents who asked for contribution money,” Lukman said as quoted by tribunnews.com. He added that the three men have been detained at the Tanah Abang Police headquarters for investigation. (vny/wit)
