tate-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga has decided to temporarily halt the Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll road construction in the city for 20 days during the Idul Fitri holiday.

“There’ll be no construction activity from 10 days before until 10 days after the Idul Fitri celebration,” said Jasa Marga president director Desi Arryani as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.

The Islamic holiday is expected to fall on June 15 and 16.

Jasa Marga spokesperson Dwimawan Heru said the company had already been halting construction projects for several days during public holidays to ensure the safety of the workers and people.

“But it won’t disrupt our schedule. The toll road construction will finish according to our target,” he said.

The elevated toll road is deemed a solution to ease traffic congestion that frequently occurs at the existing Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. The toll road, which stretches 36.4 kilometers, is expected to be finished in 2019. (vla)
