On Monday, a man identified as Wisnu allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend’s dog, named Benjol, to death out of jealousy.
Wisnu was reportedly jealous because he saw his former girlfriend, Loren, with a man named David at her home in Cipondoh.
Loren reported the case to the police on Tuesday night, Anisa said as quoted by kompas.com.
Anisa said her group had assisted in several cases involving animal cruelty. However, none of the perpetrators faced criminal charges.
"We have filed [police] reports multiple times but none was taken to court because the law is weak."
She added that in 2016, her group had reported an animal abuse-related case that occurred in Majalengka, West Java. However, the investigation focused on animal shelter mismanagement instead of animal cruelty. (fac)
