C

orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan was declared not well enough to carry out his duties after minor surgery in Singapore on Thursday.

Novel was attacked with acid by an unidentified assailant on April 11, 2017, which left him with a severe injury to his left eye.

A written statement released by KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said Novel had complained of deteriorating sight from his left eye. It is reported that foreign tissue had grown over the artificial lens installed in his left eye.

“The doctors decided to perform a small operation to trim the tissue. The operation's outcome is good, as Novel feels that his sight has improved,” the statement said.

Novel is scheduled to undergo a checkup next week.

“Novel cannot go back to work because doctors recommended he rest for 31 days, which means until July 28,” the statement concluded.

In the statement, Febri also mentioned that there was still no clue about the whereabouts of Novel’s attacker. (gis/ahw)
