A

woman named Sri Sumarni fell into man-made lake Setu Babakan in South Jakarta on Sunday morning, according to the Jakarta Tourism and Cultural Agency.

“According to the Srengseng Sawah subdistrict head, she was exercising on islet C [in Setu Babakan lake] at 8 a.m.,” said agency head Tinia Budiati as reported by kompas.com on Monday.

The 56-year-old, Tinia added, was standing at the edge of the lake attempting to take selfie with her family, when she slipped and fell into the water.

“But she didn’t drown,” Tinia assured.

A visitor reportedly jumped in to save Sri, but failed.

An officer from the Water Resource Agency then used a backhoe to rescue them both.

The incident comes just day after a student from Kanisius high school in Jakarta, identified as GES, fell to his death after attempting to take a selfie on a cliff at Balangan Beach in Bali.

According to tribunnews.com, GES will be laid to rest at San Diego cemetery in Karawang, West Java, on Tuesday.
