orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators arrested a number of individuals over alleged graft during an operation on Tuesday evening.

“Around five people were apprehended in Labuhan Batu, North Sumatra and Jakarta. A regent and his or her adjutant was arrested in an airport in Jakarta,” KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said on Tuesday night.

He added that the regent and adjutant were questioned at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta, while three businesspeople arrested in Labuhan Batu underwent the same process at the local police headquarters.

Reports circulated that the regent in question was Labuhan Batu Regent Pangonal Harahap. The KPK, however, did not confirm whether Pangonal was among the arrestees.

Febri said investigators seized evidence indicating that transactions were made involving hundreds of millions of rupiah in relation to an infrastructure project in the regency.
