akarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno left the capital on Tuesday evening for an overseas work trip to Moscow to follow up on an existing cooperation agreement between the two cities.
This is his fifth overseas work trip since he and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan were sworn into office in October last year.
“[The deputy governor] will return from Moscow tomorrow,” Jakarta Gubernatorial and Foreign Affairs Bureau head Muhammad Mawardi said on Wednesday as reported by kompas.com.
Sandiaga said he would meet with the mayor of Moscow to discuss a sister-city cooperation agreement that the previous Jakarta governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, had renewed.
Djarot went to Moscow in August last year, visiting Moscow’s Traffic Management Center and Moscow Central Circle.
Sandiaga's first work trip abroad was to Dubai in November 2017. He went to Tokyo in February and the United States in June. His last overseas work visit was to Singapore on July 9.
The city’s 2018 budget set aside Rp 54.5 billion (US$ 3.7 million) for work trips by city officials, including the governor and deputy governor.
Rp 36.4 billion is allocated for domestic work trips and Rp 18 billion for overseas trips. (ami)
