he Jakarta Police have confiscated 30.3 kilograms of sabu-sabu (crystal methamphetamine) from four alleged drug dealers accused of supplying the drug to members of the Tenda Oranye (Orange Tent) criminal group.
The four arrested were identified only as FJ, TH, RZ and MDL.
"The [drugs], totaling 30.3 kg, were [confiscated] in West and North Jakarta," West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Hengki Haryadi said at his office on Monday as reported by kompas.com.
Tenda Oranye is regarded as a dangerous criminal group as its members always carry knives when carrying out operations.
Hengki said the investigation into the case started two weeks ago.
FJ, he said, was a drug dealer who operated in Jakarta and Bandung. He was arrested in Cengkareng, West Java, with 500 grams of meth in possession.
TH, the alleged courier, was arrested in Slipi, West Jakarta, with 767 grams of meth. RZ was arrested on Jl. Walang Sari II, North Jakarta, with 29.6 kg of meth in possession. MDL, who handled transactions and financial matters, was arrested in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta.
"From this discovery, we delved into the case and alleged that they supplied meth to the Tenda Oranye group," Hengki said.
The police also confiscated several other items, including Rp 2.3 billion (US$ 158,723) in cash, two cars, a motorbike and eight mobile phones. (fac)
