A cow, weighing around 200 kilograms, fell into a 20 meter deep, 1 m wide well after attempting to escape during an Idul Adha celebration.
he Animal Rescue Team of Bandung’s Fire Department spent more than one hour trying to rescue a cow that fell into a well after running into a mosque’s wall while trying to escape during an Idul Adha celebration.
According to humas.bandung.go.id, the congregants had just finished their Idul Adha prayer when they heard an unusual sound coming from an old well beside the Nurul Jihad Mosque in Cimenyan, Bandung regency, West Java, on Wednesday.
Cepi, an eyewitness, said the cow was being unloaded from a truck when it ran amok and ran to the side of the mosque. The cow then hit the mosque’s wall and plunged into the well, he added.
The cow, weighing around 200 kilograms, was then trapped inside the 20 meter deep, 1 m wide well.
The residents attempted to pull the cow out to no avail before deciding to call the Animal Rescue Team of the regency’s fire department.
The team observed the situation and coordinated with local residents to pull the cow out using a block and tackle method. However, the salvage attempt was not problem free, as the cow struggled and resisted during the installation of the straps.
After one hour, the team and locals managed to pull the cow out of the old well.
The cow was then slaughtered for the Idul Adha day of sacrifice. (sau/ahw)
