esidents wishing to have their pre-wedding photo shoots at the newly revamped Kali Besar in Kota Tua, West Jakarta, will not be charged any fees, Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency acting head Asiantoro stated on Monday.
The announcement came following reports that some thugs had demanded illegal fees at Kali Besar from a couple who wanted to have their pre-wedding photo shoot there.
“According to Bylaw No. 1/2015, private pre-wedding [photo shoots] are not charged,” Asiantoro said on Monday, kompas.com reported, referring to the revision of Bylaw No. 3/2012 on levies.
He said that a photo shoot would only be charged with levies if the photos are to be used for advertising, “only if the photo shoot is done at Fatahillah Park in front of the Jakarta Historical Museum [in the vicinity of Kali Besar],” he said.
He said he had made sure that that anyone demanding levies from the residents for doing a private photo shoot were not officials from the Jakarta administration.
On Sunday, Adiputu Harto, 30, said that thugs at Kali Besar area had forced him to pay Rp 500,000 (US$34) for rent fees to do a pre-wedding photo shoot.
“I wanted to do my pre-wedding photo shoot at Kali Besar on Aug. 29. [On Sunday] afternoon my photographer surveyed the location, and some thugs came over to him, saying that for pre-wedding shoots he must pay Rp 500,000,” Adiputu said. (ami)
