he oil production of PT Pertamina EP (PEP)'s Asset 5 , an upstream subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas holding company Pertamina, has reached 18.366 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), about 106 percent of its target of 17,250 BOPD, a company official has said.

Pertamina EP legal affairs and public relations manager Anton Sumartono Raharjo said that the company's gas production also reached 16.24 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), or 97 percent of the company’s production target of 16.75 MMSCFD.

“Pertamina EP is optimistic about increasing its production. This year, we plan to drill 38 wells. As of August, we have drilled 22 new wells,” Anton told journalists in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on Friday.

PEP Asset 5 manages Sangatta field, Bunyu field, Tanjung field, Sangasanga field, Tarakan field and Papua field.

Anton said PEP Asset 5 planned to drill 55 wells next year. “We are trying to achieve our target,” he said, adding that the performance was achieved through working contracts under supervision of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas).

Meanwhile, Pertamina EP president director Nanang Abdul Manaf said that Pertamina EP had set a production target of 100,000 BOPD for this year.

The company's current level of production is 77,759 BOPD. “Pertamina EP’s 13th anniversary is a moment to set a production target to reach 100,000 BOPD again,” said Nanang as reported by kompas.com.

To achieve the target, he said the company would optimize the production of 22 fields under its operatorship. (bbn)
