A

man, identified as Adi Yudha, died following an altercation with a group of four people celebrating a birthday in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Sunday.

Adi was walking with three friends when they ran into the four revelers. "The four were spraying water at each other, and the victim and his friends got sprayed," Kemayoran Police chief Comr. Saiful Anwar said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

An argument began that led to blows. "Two of them [Adi’s friends] were chased by two from the other group. The victim fell and he was beaten," Saiful said.

The police said one of the attackers stabbed Adi before fleeing the scene. Adi's friends took him to a nearby hospital but he did not survive.

The police have questioned several people and believe the attackers had been drinking alcohol. (evi)
