Acting head of the Jakarta Communications, Information and Statistics Agency, Netti Herawati, said the administration hoped to prevent brawls by monitoring the area.
"The footage can be seen at the Jakarta Smart City center [in City Hall]," Netti said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
The cameras were procured through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, she added.
Brawls broke out on Aug. 21 and Aug. 23 on Jl. Sultan Agung, Pasar Manggis, Manggarai, and Jl. Menteng Tenggulun.
Public facilities were damaged during the brawls. (cal)
