he East Jakarta administration has urged several business owners, including the management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) cultural park, to pay their taxes.
The administration has put up warning notices, stating that the management has yet to fulfill its tax obligations, at three spots in TMII, namely Snowbay Waterpark, Skylift and the Tourist Village.
TMII culture and information manager Dwi Windiarto said the management deplored the administration’s move to put up the warning notices because TMII was in the process of fulfilling its obligations.
“We are still negotiating with the central government, the Jakarta administration and the East Jakarta administration,” Dwi said on Wednesday as quoted by tempo.co.
Dwi added the negotiation was held with the assistance of the State Secretariat because TMII was a national asset.
East Jakarta Mayor Muhamad Anwar has said there are at least 150 places in 12 districts that have not paid their Urban and Rural Land and Building Taxes (PBB-P2). The unpaid tax would bring a potential revenue of Rp 43 billion (US$2.8 million) to the capital.
He added the administration had delivered warning letters and summonses to those taxpayers, but they had not followed up the letters. (cal)
