The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested 14 people for alleged bribery linked to the issuance of a plantation permit in southeast Kalimantan on Friday.
he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested 14 people for alleged bribery linked to the issuance of a plantation permit in Central Kalimantan on Friday.
KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said the suspects consisted of eight legislative council members of Central Kalimantan, five employees from PT Smart Tbk and PT BAP, and a secretary of the council's Commission B.
“Thirteen suspects were arrested [during an operation], while one suspect surrendered themselves to the KPK,” Febri told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.
The KPK confiscated Rp 240 million (about US$15,000) from the suspects. It is suspected that the company used the money to bribe the council members to secure a plantation permit.
All of the suspects were taken to the KPK office to undergo further investigation.
