he bodies of the family of four whose deaths shocked the South Sumatra capital of Palembang were cremated on Friday as the police concluded the murder-suicide case.

Sampurna Crematory officer Darwis Hidayat said the four bodies had been cremated two by two in the morning and afternoon.

“The extended family has agreed to scatter the ashes on Musi River on Saturday morning,” he said.

In a rare murder-suicide case, 45-year-old businessman Fransiskus Xaverius Ong is strongly believed to have killed his 43-year-old wife, Margereth Yentin Liana, his 18-year-old son, Rafael Fransiskus and 11-year-old daughter, Kathlyn Fransiskus, as well as the family dogs, Choky and Snowy.

The murder took place at the family’s residence in Kalidoni district, Palembang, South Sumatra, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
