ive vehicles were involved in a multiple car crash on the Pulomas-Cawang toll road in East Jakarta on Sunday afternoon, a police officer has said.
Jakarta road patrol unit head Adj. Sr. Comr. Slamet Widodo said the incident occurred around 12.30 p.m., adding that five cars were damaged.
“There were no casualties and the cars were not severely damaged,” he said on Sunday as quoted by tempo.co.
Slamet explained that the incident was caused by a driver who braked suddenly, which impacted the cars behind him.
“Maybe [the drivers] were shocked due to him suddenly braking because they did not keep a following distance,” he said.
The accident created a temporary logjam.
The National Police said the peak of the exodus had been on Saturday and people would return to Jakarta on Tuesday. Meanwhile, for New Year, those going on holiday are expected to travel on Dec. 28 and return on Jan. 1. (sau)
