Four unidentified men on two motorbikes attacked tourists traveling in a car in Ciwidey, West Java, on Monday evening.

Asnil Bambani, 37, who was in car with four family members from Tangerang, Banten, said the attack started when he crossed the Soreang-Ciwidey road before the Pasir Jambu subdistrict. Two men wearing helmets and riding on a motorbike hit the back of his car, which hit an obstruction and came to a stop.

“After that, the motorbike got very near to my car. One of them got off and hit the right side of my windshield using a wooden rod,” Asnil told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

A few minutes later, the two men fetched two others who were also riding a motorbike. They continued to hit the car’s windshield with a rod.

However, Asnil tried to drive away. The rod broke when it hit the hood and the right front corner of Asnil’s car.

“Both of them fled toward Pasir Jambu. The street lighting in the location was very minimal, almost no lights at all. This made it difficult for me to recognize the perpetrator,” he said.

Asnil reported the incident to the Pasir Jambu Police in West Java. However, the report could not be completed because he did not know the motorcycles' license plate numbers and could not identify the drivers.

"My report was only recorded on a blank HVS paper as the officers couldn’t do anything. I share this experience so that tourists are careful when going at night around Ciwidey," he said

He demanded that security in Ciwidey become tighter during the holidays. He also said he hoped the Bandung regency government would add street lights to the Soreang-Ciwidey route. (ggq)
