Three people died in a fire that gutted a house on Jl. Sungai Landak, Cilincing, in North Jakarta early on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Kusmiasih, 55, Krisdayanti, 20, and Hamzah, 1.
Their bodies have been taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta.
“After seeing heavy smoke coming from the house, neighbors banged on the door but no one answered,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said as quoted by kompas.com.
According to North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency head Satriadi Gunawan, the fire was caused by a short circuit. It started at 2:31 a.m. and was extinguished by 3:25 a.m. with the help of 11 fire trucks. (rai)
