Kalideres Police detained six alleged motorcycle thieves in East Jakarta on Jan. 25, two of whom were shot for resisting arrest.
“We shot them in their legs, because they attempted to fight back,” said Kalideres Police crime unit chief Adj. Comr. Syafri Wasdar on Sunday, kompas.com reported.
The shot suspects, RD, 24, and S, 20, were taken to the Kalideres Hospital for medical treatment, while the four others were brought to the police office.
“The four other suspects are J, 35; JS, 32; MA, 20; and HS, 21,” Kalideres Police chief Comr. Pius Ponggeng said.
Pius said the police had targeted the group for quite some time. Police also confiscated a blue Honda motorcycle and a blue Suzuki car. (vla)
