residential candidate and Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto has canceled his political speech that was scheduled to take place on Wednesday during a Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) meeting due to sickness, according to PKS chairman Sohibul Iman.
"He initially was ready to come, but he was unwell. He said that he in fact had been sick for three days," Sohibul said as quoted by kompas.com.
Prabowo was initially scheduled to address a consolidation meeting of PKS members in Jakarta.
Sohibul, who criticized Prabowo's speech during the first presidential debate for being too long and full of rambling, said the cancellation did not frustrate the PKS.
“I’m not disappointed; people can get sick," he said, adding that he assumed Prabowo was having a cold.
In addition to PKS executives, other figures, such as Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, gave speeches at the event. (ggq/ipa)
