Depok Immigration Office officials were suspicious of their explanations so the foreigners were detained for further investigation.
The Depok Immigration Office has arrested three foreigners who had overstayed their visa in Indonesia.
The three foreigners are EMN and ESN from Nigeria, and KP from Senegal.
Depok Immigration Office spokesman Newin said EMN and KP had entered Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Banten on Oct. 30, 2018 using a visit visa.
“[EMN] has overstayed by 60 days and said he was still waiting for a contract from a big soccer club in West Java,” Newin said as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, KP told the police he was going to work for a German company in Indonesia, Newin said.
The other foreigner, ESN, entered Indonesia on Nov. 3, 2018 and claimed to be a student who would study Indonesian. Newin said the officers were suspicious of their explanations so the foreigners were detained for further investigation.
From the three foreigners, the officers confiscated three laptops, seven cell phones, a camera, two watches and a number of documents.
“If there are indications of crimes other than immigration violation, we will investigate further,” Newin said.
The three are now facing charges under Article 78 of Law No. 6/2011 on immigration.
“We would deport them and put them on a blacklist so that they could not enter our country anymore,” he said. (gis)
